Automobili Lamborghini and the Italian “Polizia di Stato” celebrate a successful 20-year partnership, marked by the delivery of a Urus Performante to the Italian Highway Police, set to join the fleet in 2024. The handover ceremony, held in Rome on December 12, saw Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, presenting the keys to Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi, in the presence of Head of Police Vittorio Pisani.

Since the collaboration began in 2004, this marks the sixth Lamborghini model in the Highway Police fleet, with the Urus Performante designed for special services such as urgent medical transport. Winkelmann expressed pride in the collaboration, emphasizing the company’s close ties with Italy and the satisfaction derived from contributing to crucial operations, including the saving of human lives.

The Urus Performante, customized to police specifications, features a distinct livery combining the Italian State Police’s blue color with white, tricolor bands, reflective police logos, and a roof-mounted light bar with 360° blue LED lights. The interior includes essential security elements like an armored weapon box, flip-down message display, and a compartment for service equipment and a defibrillator. Notably, a portable fridge for organ transportation, complete with a display and data logger, enhances the vehicle’s functionality.

Powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine, the Urus Performante boasts 666 CV of power and 850 Nm of torque, achieving acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 306 km/h. Its exceptional performance was demonstrated with the best time for a production SUV at the 2022 Pikes Peak Hillclimb.
